18-year-old fighting for his life after he was shot multiple times in West Philadelphia
Philadelphia police say an 18-year-old male is fighting for his life after he was shot multiple times in a West Philadelphia alley.
WEST PHILADELPHIA - Police say a gunfight erupted between three people in West Philadelphia Saturday night, leaving one of them critically injured.
An 18-year-old was found lying in an alleyway, behind a corner store, on the 1000 block of North 39th Street around 9:30 p.m. He was suffering from gunshot wounds across his entire body.
He is said to be in extremely critical condition at Penn Presbyterian Hospital.
Police later discovered the teen was engaged in a gunfight with two other people after obtaining surveillance footage from the area.
At least 35 spent shell casings were reportedly found at the scene.
Police say the teen was armed with a rifle, while the other two gunmen shot semiautomatic handguns. The rifle was recovered at the scene near the teen's body.
It is believed the other two gunmen were not shot during the gunfight, according to police.

A red Toyota SUV that was found still running at the scene may also be involved in the incident. Police say it was stolen during an armed carjacking a day or two earlier, and it was likely in the possession of the teen gunman.
No other information about the two other gunmen was given, and the shooting is under investigation.
