LARGO, Fla. (FOX 13) - A 72-year-old Pinellas County man is accused of stalking, harassing and inappropriately touching a 12-year-old girl over the course of several weeks, police say.
The alleged victim was able to provide police with a description and cell phone video of the man, leading to his arrest.
According to investigators, the girl came to police last Thursday after she recorded a video of the man on her phone. She told police that the strange man had followed her from her bus stop and even touched her inappropriately.
The next day, detectives sent a surveillance team to watch her bus stop. That's when they say they spotted Abdulla Ndregjoni follow the girl home. They immediately arrested him, and he allegedly admitted following, groping, and trying to kiss the girl, even though he knew she was under 16 years old.
"He made admission to the fact that he didn't know the victim that he was attracted to her that," said Largo Police Lt. Randall Chaney.
Ndregjoni now faces charges of aggravated stalking on a child under and lewd and lascivious molestation. Police lauded the "brave" girl for coming forward and they are now looking for anyone else who may have witnessed this behavior or even been victims themselves.
"This gentleman was very persistent and his behavior only got worse over time so we'd say this would be a parent's nightmare," said Lt. Chaney.
"I've seen him walk up and down the past couple weeks," said Cathleen Fink.
Fink lives near the school bus stop where the harassment allegedly took place. She calls the allegations disgusting.
"I can't imagine even what turns someone's brain from normal to sicko," she said.
Police are concerned there could be more victims out there. They're asking anyone who had contact with the suspect to come forward immediately.
