PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Philadelphia police have the suspect in the killing of a 78-year-old man in his home.
They say Clark turned himself in at Police Headquarters at about 9:50pm Monday, and he was arrested. They'd identified the 18-year-old as a suspect earlier in the day.
Last Tuesday, May 31, Philadelphia officers were called to 'Check the Well Being' of Joseph Daly at his Southwest Philadelphia home, in the 6300 block of Theodore Street.
They saw a broken rear window and unlocked back door. Then, they went inside and found Daly lying unresponsive on the living room floor with a pool of blood next to the right side of his head.
Daly had been beaten and strangled to death.
Neighbors had called 911 at about 1am the day before Daly was found, reporting a person screaming inside and then three young people running away from the house.
Police did not specify how they identified Clark, who's now charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, robbery, burglary, theft and related offenses.
Daly's 2003 Ford E150 was missing, but it was found on Thursday at Griscom and Oxford Avenue.
Daly served in the Navy, and neighbors said he loved the American Legion and his cats. He was known as a hardworking home improvement contractor and handyman who went to work every day. He'd lived in his house on Theodore Street for decades.
