Drive-by shooting during North Philadelphia vigil injures 5 people
PHILADELPHIA - Police say five people, including a teenager, were hurt in a drive-by shooting that erupted at a vigil that was being held for a shooting that happened two weeks ago.
Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the intersection of D Street and Wyoming Avenue just before 9 p.m. for reports of a shooting.
Police say several shots were fired from a white Jeep Grand Cherokee as it turned onto Wyoming Avenue, then fled the scene.
Five people were found suffering from gunshot wounds. All five victims were taken to Temple University Hospital where they were placed in stable condition:
- 68-year-old man shot twice in the face
- 17-year-old man shot in the leg
- 24-year-old woman shot in the ankle
- 23-year-old man shot in thigh
- 23-year-old woman shot in the leg
Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said the shooting happened at a vigil that was being held for the victims of a deadly double shooting that happened in Feltonville on July 5th.
Police said that shooting claimed the life of 20-year-old Orlando Negron and left a 15-year-old with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Police later found the shooter's vehicle abandoned several blocks away with three firearms inside, including a ghost gun, according to authorities.
Three male suspects are being sought in connection to the quintuple shooting.
