Police: Christmas decorations stolen from South Philadelphia home
SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Police say they are looking for two men they say stole Christmas decorations from the front of someone's home in South Philadelphia.
The incident occurred back on the morning of December 9, around 5 a.m. on the 1100 block of Fitzgerald Street
"Took months to make and they took them," Josephine Michetti told FOX 29's Bruce Gordon.
She says this is the third time someone took her decorations in the past 26 months.
Surveillance video of the incident shows one of the men taking Christmas decorations from the front of a home while a second suspect acted as a lookout.
The suspects made off with a small Christmas tree and other decorations from around the windows.
Official crime statistics show the number of home/commercial burglaries has dropped by around 45% in Philadelphia since 2011. But with almost everything caught on camera these days, you'd think crooks would virtually give up on this kind of crime. Nope.
"They're going to do what they're going to, regardless of the consequences," Philadelphia Police Sgt. Eric Gripp said, "And so, at the end of the day, if you have people that are intent on committing a crime, they're going to do it no matter how many witnesses or cameras might be around."
Both suspects fled the area in an unknown direction.
