Police: Del. man repeatedly sexually abused 6-year-old

Timothy J. Delp, 55, is accused of repeatedly having sexual contact with the child.

Police documents reveal that a Delaware man charged with child molestation is accused of abusing a 6-year-old multiple times over the course of several months.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports charging documents accuse 55-year-old Timothy J. Delp of repeatedly having sexual contact with the child. Lewes Police Department documents state the child was frequently allowed to spend the night with Delp, who was said to be "trusted by the child's family." The documents said the child told their mother in June they had a "fun day" with Delp, but also made comments alluding to abuse.

Delp was charged Sept. 4 with sexual abuse of a child by a person in a position of trust, second-degree rape, continuous sexual abuse of a child, unlawful sexual contact and endangering a child's welfare.
