Police: Del. man struck, killed after driver failed to stop for school bus
NEW CASTLE, Del. - Delaware State Police are investigating an accident in which a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car at a school bus stop.
A statement from the agency says a 37-year-old man was trying to cross a street while the school bus had stopped on Tuesday morning at the intersection of New Castle and Ryan Avenues in New Castle.
Investigators say a motorist heading southbound on New Castle Avenue failed to acknowledge the school bus lights and hit the unidentified pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The pedestrian's identity has been withheld pending notification of relatives.
State police say the motorist was not hurt, and say an investigation is continuing.
