Lower Providence Township, Pa. (WTXF) - Lower Providence Township police and West Norriton Township police are investigating an alleged sex assault.
"It's very concerning. It's a shock to be honest with you," said David Volpe. He and his family have lived on Lantern Lane in the Audubon section of Lower Providence Township for a decade. Today, he got word of something he never expected to happen here.
"This has been such a great neighborhood. Nothing like this has ever happened around here like that before," he said.
Police say a woman was walking on the 2700 block of Lantern Lane at 11:30 p.m. when she says a man in a car pulled up, got out, forced her in and drove off. Authorities say he sexually assaulted her soon afterward. Police provided a surveillance picture of a car that fits the description. It was captured on traffic cameras.
Police later confirmed that the act appeared to be a pre-arranged meeting between the victim and alleged suspect, as opposed to a random incident.
"Having a young daughter and hearing something like this is just very heart breaking and concerning," said Volpe.
Lower Providence Township Police say the suspect drove to a secluded area in a business development on General Armistead Avenue in West Norriton Township. That's where the sexual assault happened. The suspect then took off. The victim walked to a Walmart nearby for help calling police.
"It's terrifying to be honest," said Amanda Little. She lives on Lantern Lane too and says she was out walking her dog Bella around the time the abduction happened.
Police say the car is described as a silver sedan, possibly a Nissan. It may be less than 10 years old with tinted windows and gray exterior.
