SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (FOX 29) - A man is dead following a suspected drag racing incident in South Philadelphia, according to police.
Officials responded to the crash at 7th Street and Pattison Avenue shortly before midnight Saturday.
Police say a 23-year-old lost control of his vehicle before striking three trees and a guard rail. His car became engulfed in flames upon imact. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, the driver's Jeep Grand Cherokee was left disintegrated.
The victim has yet to be identified.
No other injuries were reported.
