EAST GERMANTOWN - An East Germantown community is shaken up after a man is shot and killed as he was entering a store.
"It’s just heartbreaking. It’s just every day," a woman named Rockie who works a few doors down from the incident stated.
Neighbors and store employees along Chelten Avenue were on edge Wednesday morning after a gunman opened fire on the doorstep of the King 2 2020 Snack Shop Tuesday night, killing one man and wounding an innocent customer inside.
Police investigate after a 23-year-old male was shot multiple times and killed in East Germantown. A second gunshot victim is expected to recover.
"Concerned about your own safety. You can be anybody, just walking down the street and you’ll get shot," Rockie commented.
"He’s very young and he had to witness that,"a store employee who asked to not be identified spoke to FOX 29’s Dave Schartwieser behind bullet proof glass about his co-worker who saw the shooting, police say.
Surveillance video shows an execution style murder just before 10 p.m. They say 22-year-old Dashean Lee was shot in the head and back. A 27-year-old innocent bystander was wounded as bullets went flying inside the tiny shop.
"I’m sorry that had to happen. The person who was wounded, I hope he feels better," the employee remarked.
Rockie says the shooting and murder has upset the entire neighborhood.
"It’s so close to home. The owner was here when it happened. She was shaken up and called me," Rockie explained.
Police say Lee’s murder was 219, so far, this year. Several riders on SEPTA’s K bus witnessed the shooting as the bus paused at the bus stop just across the street.
"We now have to stop working late, we have to get out of here before the sun goes down," Rockie said.
"I wish it would end. We don’t need to have people dying left and right," the store employee added.
