Police: Man arrested after 8 newborn puppies thrown away in trash bag

A man has been arrested after police say he threw out a bag full of newborn puppies in the trash.

Officers responded to the 800 block of East 4th Street in Marshfield, Wisconsin, on Feb. 28, after someone reported hearing what they thought was the sound of kittens coming from a garbage can.

Responding officers instead found eight puppies that had been discared in the trash.

The puppies were transported to the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter for treatment.

Fifty-six-year-old Robert Wild, with whom authorities made contact at the home, admitted to discarding the puppies.

Wild faces misdemeanor charges for the mistreatment and abandonment of animals.

The puppies are reportedly doing well and may be up for adoption in the coming months.

Those interested in donating to Marshfield Area Pet Shelter may do so here.
