South Brunswick, NJ (WTXF) - South Brunswick police arrested a man for drunkenly driving a backhoe on Tuesday afternoon.
Police say they received multiple calls about a man driving the backhoe while drinking a beer on New Road near Route 1. Officer Robert Rask was patrolling nearby and saw the driver swerving westbound on New Rd.
According to the officer, the driver was slouched over the wheel of the backhoe.
Officer Rask pulled the backhoe over and arrested William Campbell, 56, of Franklin Park.
Police say they recovered two bottles of liquor from the backhoe.
After failing field sobriety tests, Campbell was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
According to police, Campbell has seven prior DWI convictions dating back to 1980.
