GERMANTOWN (FOX 29) - A man has been charged in the shooting death of a beloved Germantown bar employee, authorities announced Monday.
Robert Lumpsin, 25, has been charged with the murder of 58-year-old Jeffrey Johnson.
Johnson was fatally shot at point-blank range on March 25 inside the Delmar Bar & Lounge on the 300 block of West Chelten Avenue.
Lumpsin was reportedly captured on surveillance video sitting down at the bar on the night of Johnson's murder. Around 2 a.m., he allegedly announced he was going to rob the bar while only a bartender and Johnson remained inside.
Johnson was remembered as a quiet, gentle soul at an emotional vigil on Saturday.
"I think my brother would be just overwhelmed because he was a very quiet man. He could sit in a room and just sit quietly. So to see everyone come out for him would be so humbling for him," said sister Terrie Johnson-Black.
Johnson-Black says her brother was harmless and cannot understand why he was gunned down while working.
Lumpsin was arrested on March 22 on the 700 block of Race Street.
