A man is in the hospital Wednesday morning after being shot in his garage.

Police say the victim was inside his North Philly home on the 1600 block of North 21st Street when he smelled gasoline. The man reportedly went to his garage to investigate and noticed gas poured on the garage door and pavement. He also saw a gas can.

Then he reportedly heard gunfire, and realized he was shot.

The victim was transported to Hahnemann University Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Police say the building he lives in houses a number of city artists and musicians.

This is an ongoing investigation.
