KINGSESSING (WTXF) - Philadelphia police say a pizza delivery driver was robbed and shot execution-style.
As 35-year-old pizza delivery driver Gafaru Surah recovered from a gunshot wound to his head Tuesday night at the hospital, his family was just thankful he's alive.
"He is very,very good. Amazing brother that I ever have in my life. We do everything together," his cousin told FOX 29.
Surah's cousin says the hardworking delivery driver helps support more than 10 members of his family in Africa, including a 3-year-old daughter. He also has a wife here in Philadelphia.
Surah left Chillin Pizza Monday night at 10 p.m. to drop off a delivery on the 5700 block of Beaumont. Police say as he got out of his car, two men with guns forced him back inside and drove him to Cobbs Creek Park. They forced him at gunpoint to kneel on the ground, according to police.
" As he's on his knees they go through his pockets. They get $60. They tell him that's not enough. They start revving the engine, demanding, threatening to shoot him," said Southwest Detectives Lt. John Walker.
Police say when Surah tried to run, the suspects shot him in the back of the head. His cousin was one of the first people to see him in the hospital .
Doctors were able to save him and remove the bullet from his head. Police recovered Surah's car nearby. The suspects escaped with $60,the victim's cell phone, and food from inside his car, according to police.
Police trying to recover fingerprints from the victim's car. They believe the suspects may live in the area where the robbery and shooting occurred. Surah's cousin says his entire family is praying for a speedy recovery.
