'Small flood' ignites fire; prompts evacuations at Crozer-Chester Medical Center: officials

Scary moments for patients and healthcare workers at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upper Chichester Township where a fire broke out inside the hospital, causing patients to be evacuated.

Skyfox was over the hospital where a large fire and EMS presence could be seen. Firefighters were seen standing near an area with smoke pouring out from an open doorway.

The CEO of the hospital, Tony Esposito, detailed the emergency operation, saying, "…a small flood" sparked a fire. He stated that by 11 p.m., the fire was out.

He added, "Critical care patients were evacuated from the facility to safe areas and we have been working with the county to ensure their safety. No injuries have been reported."

There were no other details regarding the fire or which facilities may have housed the patients once they were transported.
