(WTXF) - The United States Department of Defense confirmed the existence of a secret $22-million-dollar program to investigate unidentified flying objects, according to a New York Times report.
According to the report, the program was launched in 2007 and funded until 2012 with the support of then Senate majority leader Harry Reid.
The program was run by Luis Elizondo, who resigned from his post in October, citing concerns over excessive secrecy and internal opposition to the program in his resignation letter to Defense Secretary James Mattis.
A research organization founded by Elzondo back in October releases footage of two incidents that were reportedly acquired from the Department of Defense on Saturday.
The videos include pilots discussing something mysterious they had spotted in a flight off the coast of San Diego in 2004.
