Salahudin Shaheed gets 30 years

Salahudin Shaheed has been sentenced to 365 months- over thirty years- in prison, for his role in an attempted robbery of a Center City jewelry store in which an employee was kidnapped, the U.S. Attorney's office announced Thursday.

The 35-year-old Shaheed pled guilty last October to conspiracy, kidnapping, and attempted Hobbs Act robbery. He also must make restitution of of $9,983.97.

According to the U.S. Attorney, Shaheed recruited two accomplices to rob the National Watch and Diamond Exchange. During the robbery, the group grabbed an employee, assaulted her, and threw her in a van, where she was kept for several hours.
