Santa Fe HS student and dad talk about coping in the aftermath of Santa Fe HS shooting

Lauren Severin was inside Santa Fe High School when tragedy struck on Friday, May 18. "I'm still in disbelief." Eight students and two teachers were fatally shot right as school started last Friday. A 17-year-old student, Dimitrios Pagourtzis is being held on capital murder charges in Friday's fatal shooting at Santa Fe High School.

Lauren said in an interview on FOX 26 that she believed faith and a strong community would be the saving grace that would heal the school. "We're a strong community. We're all going to end up being stronger." Her dad, Quentin reiterated that faith will bring in God would bring them together. "Faith is gonna help. A leap of faith is what everyone needs." Quentin also mentioned that he wanted to credit Santa Fe HS teacher, Daniel Vaughn for saving lives during the incident.

Lauren added, "I don't think we're ever mentally prepared for something like this. Santa Fe is a place where everybody loves everyone."
