JENKINTOWN, Pa. (WTXF) - The search is on for a cat who vanished weeks ago, but apparently did not go far, as his owner and her neighbors say they can still hear him.
Carolyn Withers-Diamond is worried sick about her 4-year old tabby Tommy.
She recently adopted him, but 30 minutes after she brought him home, he disappeared inside her home.
"Opened up the crate, he went downstairs into the basement and I couldn't find him," Carolyn explained.
Carolyn says she searched the basement.
"The next thing I know, I see him in one of the rafters and I'm like come on baby come on Tommy and I go to reach for him and he shot up into the wall," she explained.
That was three weeks ago.
And since then Carolyn says she and her neighbors have been hearing Tommy in the wall, and her foster cat Piffin has been darting around.
She showed FOX 29's Shawnette Wilson where she's hammered in one wall where she says she's heard Tommy crying.
She also says firefighters came with special equipment to search in the walls and vents but detected nothing.
"Green Street Cat Rescue came over and they came over with traps and they've been awesome we put food around I got KFC Kentucky Fried Chicken they said the smell lingers everywhere and they love it still," Carolyn explained.
Still, there has been no visible sign of Tommy.
"If we don't find help right away to rescue Tommy with the freezing cold weather and I can't imagine there's too many mouse, mice left in the building and I know there's some little leaky pipes," Carolyn said.
Carolyn says animal rescuers have said cats can survive in such conditions for a month or so but she hopes Tommy finds his way out soon.
"It's a very short amount of time left. We've only got days," Carolyn said.
