SEPTA train hits unoccupied car on tracks in Montgomery County

Crews are on the scene after a SEPTA train struck an unoccupied car sitting on the tracks in Montgomery County Tuesday morning.

The incident took place near the Rices Mill Road train overpass between Glenside and Jenkintown Stations.

SEPTA has suspended service for Warminster, Glenside and Lansdale Doylestown.

Officials say over 500 passengers were on the train at the time of the accident. Passengers are currently being evacuated and redirected to shuttle buses nearby.

Four ADA passengers on the train were assisted off the train and will board an ADA va. All other passengers were walked to Jenkintown Station and boarded another train to continue their travel.

SEPTA riders are facing delays of up to 45 minutes on all other lines.
