Bucks County town forced to shelter-in-place due to domestic violence hostage situation

Police say a domestic violence incident ended in a Bucks County neighborhood forced to shelter-in-place for two and a half hours until swat members and negotiators made enough progress to arrest the suspect.

Another barricade situation in Bucks County this weekend ended with a man in custody and a female victim being injured, according to police.

A shelter-in-place was issued in Newtown Township after police were called to a domestic incident in the Headley Development around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police arrived to find a woman who escaped through the rear of the home after being physically assaulted by a man who was still armed inside.

After a failed attempt to gain entry, police called SWAT units to the scene and evacuated nearby homes.

Negotiators were able to contact the suspect and after two and a half hours, the suspect was taken into custody without injury and the shelter in place was lifted.

Police say the incident was domestic in nature, but have yet to release any further details.

However, they did say that the suspect, who has yet to be identified, would be charged.

The woman was treated for minor injuries, and no police were injured.

The barricade situation comes a day after a shelter-in-place was issued in Falls Township after three people were killed in a violent rampage police say was carried out by a suspect who was captured hours later.
