Skier dies after being found at Poconos ski resort

TANNERSVILLE, Pa. (AP) -- State police say a Canadian man was pronounced dead after he was found unresponsive in a wooded area of a Poconos ski resort in what authorities believe was a skiing accident.

Police said a ranger at Camelback Ski Resort found 26-year-old Lincoln Kuwabara of Ontario, who had been reported missing by his brother, shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The resort said in a statement that the victim was found off a trail and rangers "administered life-saving efforts" before taking him to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, where he was pronounced dead.

Monroe County Coroner Tom Yanac said Wednesday that an autopsy was planned to determine the cause and manner of death.

State police said the death remains under investigation. Camelback said it was cooperating with authorities and extended "deepest sympathies and support" to the victim's family and friends.

This story has been corrected to note that the skier was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at a hospital rather than being found dead.
