Man caught on camera putting skimmer device on store card reader, Burlington Township police say
BURLINGTON, N.J - Heads up if you used your credit card for a recent purchase at a 7-Eleven in Burlington Township, as police say they recovered a skimmer device from the Columbus Road store on Wednesday.
The suspect is seen on camera attaching the device and police are searching for him.
"I see on the news sometimes but not in my real life. This is my first time. I am also shocked," said Assistant Manager Prabh Deep. He was working alone at the store on Columbus Road around 5 o'clock Wednesday evening when it happened.
He says the man ordered pepperoni pizza and got right to work when he went to prepare the order. Video shows the suspect take a step back when he has told they were out of pepperoni and offered something else instead.

"He said that's fine. So that time when I turn around, he just put the device on," said Deep. The man is seen on video taking the device out of his pocket and affixing it to the machine. About an hour and a half later a regular customer making a purchase with his card was suspicious of a gap in space on the face of the card reader.
"When they tap the card and touch the numbers, it feels a little weird because there was a little gap in there," said Deep.
"He just noticed there's something wrong with this machine and he pull out everything," he said about the customer.
Deep checked his cameras, saw what happened and called police.
"I will, like, jimmy it a little bit to like make sure. If it kind of moves, I will say something but I have not come across anything, that I've seen," said customer Stephanie Hoffman. She was shown a picture of the device that was found on the card reader.
"That picture is scary because it is very close to what they have on the machines here," she said.
Anyone who made a credit card purchase from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday is urged to monitor their accounts for any suspicious activity. Police ask that you call them if you can identify the suspect or if this has happened anywhere else. Contact Detective O’Farrell at 609-239-4486.
