Snowmobile riders wanted for chasing, running over fox in Pennsylvania field turn themselves in
HEIDELBERG, Pa. - Two snowmobile riders who authorities say were seen chasing and intentionally running over a wild fox have turned themselves in, the Pennsylvania Game Commission reported.
In a Facebook post on Friday, the Game Commission said media coverage and "public outcry" helped pressure the suspects to surrender.
What we know:
Two people on snowmobiles were seen harassing a red fox in a field near the intersection of State Route 501 and Locust Street in Heidelberg Township on Monday.
The fox was chased for more than 30 minutes as the suspects ran over it with their snowmobiles several times, officials said.
It is being investigated as the illegal harassment of wildlife and attempted unlawful taking of a red fox.
