null - A new study reveals the country's "takeout capitals," where people are the most obsessed with to-go orders.
Wethrfit, an online discount platform, conducted the study with consumer trend experts. Their data included Google search metrics, Yelp ratings, and state takeout spending data.
Which states order the most takeout?
According to the study, Hawaii ranks as the most takeout-obsessed state, earning a score of 100. The study showed the Aloha state has 97.16 takeout establishments per 100,000 residents. The state can also brag about an impressive takeout search volume of 37,578.57 per 100,000 residents. Data also showed that Hawaiians spend more than $4,300 annually on takeout orders.

Following Hawaii, Connecticut, Colorado, Nevada and New Jersey round out the top five states that enjoy takeout orders.

Which states order the least takeout?
Oklahoma came at the bottom of the list, earning a takeout obsession score of 0. The state also has 74.78 takeout establishments per 100,000 residents as well as a takeout search volume of 6,946.74 per 100,000 residents.

Other states coming at the bottom were Kansas and North Dakota.

Why is the US becoming obsessed with takeout?
"With busy lifestyles, many in the U.S. are turning to takeout as a convenient meal option," Nick Drewe, consumer trend expert and CEO at Wethrift, said in a news release. "It's fascinating to see how states like Hawaii, Connecticut, and Colorado lead the way in takeout obsession. This data not only highlights our love for takeout but also showcases the unique food cultures across different states."
Experts said even though takeout orders can be more expensive than cooking on home, some people can't put a price on convenience and time savings.
