Storeowner who shot alleged robber, bystander won't be charged

The business owner who turned the tables on what started as an attempted robbery will not face charges, despite running after the suspected thief -- and shooting him and also an innocent bystander with his gun he was legally carrying.

Police said the laundromat-owner was working just before 4:30pm Sunday in the Fairhill area of North Philadelphia when the 42-year-old suspect with a knife robbed him and took off.

In surveillance video released Sunday evening, the angry business owner who'd grabbed his gun chased him near the intersection of 5th and Cambria streets.

They turned the corner where police say the business owner shot the suspect twice in the chest, critically wounding him.

Bullets also struck an innocent bystander in her hand, according to officials
