Labor negotiations to avoid a strike will resume Tuesday morning between faculty and school officials at the Community College of Philadelphia.

Classes will be held Tuesday as negotiations resume around 9:30 a.m.

The group of 1,200 full-time faculty, part-time faculty and classified class members are hoping for an increase in salary and benefits. Many point out that some workers still qualify for food assistance due to low pay.

The strike threat looms just a few weeks before the semester's end. The vote itself stems from three years of contract negotiations that began in August 2016.

Around 28,000 students will be affected if the strike takes place.
