Study: Feeling ‘hangry' is a real thing

A new study suggests that being "hangry" is indeed a real thing. While being hungry is a feeling we're all familiar with, researches now say that hunger can impact your emotions.

In one experiment, researchers asked more than 400 people across the country to do online experiments.

In another experiment, researched asked 200 students to either eat or fast before coming to the lab. Some of those students were then asked to do a writing exercise about their emotions and others wrote about a neutral experience.

Those who wrote about the neutral experience and fasted beforehand were more likely to express stress and feeling hateful.

Researchers concluded being in a stressful situation and not being in tune with your emotions can make a person cross the line from huger to "hanger."

The study's authors are pushing for further research to better understand how hunger and emotions are intertwined. The findings appeared in the journal, 'Emotion.'
