Police now have an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Jaadir Goodwyn, the suspect facing felony first degree charges in the incident.

"We are going to end this culture of lawlessness that has been plaguing our city and it won't stand," said Mayor Cherelle Parker during a press conference outside Penn Presbyterian Hospital this afternoon.

Vehicle recovered, driver sought after 3 nurses hit helping shooting victim at Philly hospital

Philadelphia police say the suspected vehicle has been found in the search for a driver who caused terrifying scenes outside a city hospital this weekend.

The incident occurred Saturday around 4:22 a.m. in the ambulance bay area of Penn Presbyterian Hospital, located on the 3900 block of Powelton Avenue.

Police say there was a shooting on the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue. They say a 2023 silver Jeep Cherokee left that scene and went to Penn Presbyterian Hospital with four men inside one of which had been shot several times.

The Jeep then pulled into the emergency room driveway.

"The three males exited that Jeep Cherokee, went inside Penn's emergency room, begged and pleaded for help," said Deputy Commissioner Vanore.

Police say three nurses along with security went out to help the shooting victim, but when Penn Police arrived with lights and sirens to investigate the shooting, the unthinkable happened.

"These three males that begged and pleaded for help jumped back in the car and recklessly and intentionally left this parking lot at a high rate of speed and drove right into the three nurses, their own shooting victim associate that they brought here and continued at a high rate of speed," said Deputy Commissioner Vanore.

The nurses all suffered multiple injuries.

The following three victims who are nurses at the hospital have been identified as:

  • A 37-year-old man suffered injuries to his legs and is listed in stable condition.
  • A 51-year-old man, who suffered injuries to his head and back is listed in stable condition.
  • A 36-year-old man suffered facial injuries and internal bleeding. He is listed in critical condition.

The shooting victim is a 28-year-old man. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds throughout the body and he may have suffered an additional head injury as the Jeep fled the scene. He is listed in critical condition.

All four victims are being treated at Penn Presbyterian.

"What they do every day for this community, the lives that they save in this community and the fact that somebody would have the audacity to run over three nurses and severely injure them," said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel.

Hospital officials spoke on behalf of the injured nurses and other staff.

"The emotion that my team is still going through. This trauma is going to be with them for a long time," said Kevin Mahoney, CEO of Penn Health System.

"This is just the awful reminder of the risks that we take working on the frontlines every day to keep care for patients that need our help in our community," said Nicole Hoke, chief nursing officer for Penn Presbyterian.

The hospital CEO says new procedures are in place. Security will now make sure cars are turned off and the driver out before staff responds to a patient.

As for the investigation, police are still working on leads on the two other men who were in that car and the shooting.

Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department's tipline at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
