Suspect shot by Trooper after allegedly dragging the officer during traffic stop

The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a shooting incident where a suspect was shot by a Trooper earlier this afternoon.

The preliminary investigation has determined the incident occurred on December 15 at around 4:30 p.m. in Wilmington.

The initial investigation reveals a trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop and was subsequently dragged by the suspect vehicle. The Trooper fired his divisionally issued firearm at the suspect.

During the traffic stop, the Trooper sustained non-life threatening injuries. The Trooper was then transported to a local area hospital.

The suspect was also transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries.

Farrand Drive is currently closed at (DE 2) Kirkwood Highway as the investigation continues.
