Neighbors concerned over suspicious door checking in Upper Moreland

Residents of a calm, quiet neighborhood in Upper Moreland Township are concerned after a video showing a group of people suspiciously checking doors made its rounds on social media.

Those living along Corinthians Avenue in Upper Moreland Township describe the neighborhood as calm.

"It’s a quiet neighborhood and for the most part everybody looks out for each other," said Joe Frumento of Upper Moreland Township.

Which comes as a surprise after video has been circulating, social media showing just houses down from Joe Frumento’s home, people driving up in a vehicle and then jumping out of their car and appearing to check for unlocked vehicles.

"I’ve seen cars slow down, but I’ve never seen somebody get out and run. I’ve seen a package delivered early in the morning, but nobody gets out and runs. They are definitely casing houses," said Frumento.

FOX 29 spoke with the owner of the video who didn’t want to be interviewed, but says police have been notified about the incident.

On social media, a number of comments regarding the recent video have said this is happening in other areas in Upper Moreland Township.

"The neighborhood's quiet most of the time and a lot of times I don’t lock my vehicle, but I will now," said Frumento.

His message for those doing this is short. "Keep an eye out because people are keeping an eye out on you," said Frumento.

FOX 29 reached out to Upper Moreland Township Police about the incident but have not heard back from them yet.
