Woodbury, NJ (WTXF) - Authorities announced the arrest of a Paulsboro teen in connection with the murder of 26-year-old Shawneeq Carter who was house-sitting in Woodbury, New Jersey. Carter was found beaten to death inside a home on Hopkins Street she was watching for a friend back in September.

Police say 19-year-old Brandon Wilson is charged with first-degree murder; third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose; fourth-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose; two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, regarding minors in the home at the time of the homicide; second-degree burglary during which a death occurred and third-degree hindering his own apprehension by asking his parents to dispose of sneakers that may have been related to the homicide.
According to the investigators' affidavit of probable cause, Wilson was seen on surveillance video on Hopkins Street the night before Carter was found deceased. It was learned Wilson had lived in the Hopkins Street house as a foster child for less than a year in 2015. In August 2016, he was arrested for unlawful trespass in the same house and found guilty of that offense and obstruction of justice in connection with providing false information. Investigators say he was released from prison on September 21, which was a few days before the murder.
