One teenager has died and another is in the hospital after police say they were both shot at a gas station in South Philadelphia late Thursday night.

The shooting occurred just after 8 p.m. on the 2500 block of Passyunk Avenue.

Surveillance video shows a gunman getting out of a car and firing at least 16 shots at a group of people, before chasing one of the victims through the lot. The video also shows a second gunman firing from the backseat of the vehicle.

Officers responded to the scene to find a 15-year-old boy laying next to the station's driveway. The victim has been identified by police as Rasul Benson.

Another 15-year-old boy was also found suffering from gunshot wounds, and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Shell casings were found on the street near the gas station, and several others were found in the station's lot. The gas station, which was open at the time of the incident, was struck at least twice by the gunfire.

Police don't know the motive, but sources say the gunman may have been targeting the teen who ran off.

FOX 29 reached out the mayor's office for comment. Mayor Kenney released the following statement:

"Every life lost due to violence is one too many. It is all the more tragic when we lose a child. I extend my deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of Rasul Benson. I urge the public to come forward and report any tips that can help find the person who did this. The anonymous tip line is 215-686-TIPS."
