Teen killed in shooting near Southwest Philadelphia high school, police say
A 17-year-old high school student was shot and killed shortly after dismissal at Bartram High School in Southwest Philadelphia, according to police. Authorities have not reported any arrests and a motive remains unknown.
PHILADELPHIA - A teenage boy died in a shooting Wednesday afternoon that erupted near a high school in Southwest Philadelphia, police said
The deadly shooting happened around 3 p.m. on the 2300 block of South 66th Street near Bartram High School, according to investigators.
Thursday morning, police identified the victim as 17-year-old Christopher Braxton.
Police sources told FOX 29 that Braxton had just walked out of the school when he encountered at least one gunman who fired two shots. Braxton was hit once in the chest and was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Hospital where he later died.

Local leaders and community members gathered outside Bartram High School in Southwest Philadelphia a day after police say 17-year-old Christopher Braxton was shot and killed around dismissal. No arrests have been reported in Braxton's shooting death and a motive is still unknown.
No arrests were reported following the deadly shooting and police say the motive remains unknown.
Braxton was a senior student at Bartram High School and lived just a few blocks from where he was killed, family members told FOX 29's Jennifer Joyce.
According to the latest data provided by the department, there have been 39 homicides in Philadelphia so far this year.
