"Turn yourself in": Teen wanted for murder in deadly ambush shooting near Roxborough High School

PHILADELPHIA - Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department are searching for a teenager wanted in connection with a deadly ambush near Roxborough High School last week.
Officers are searching for Dayron Burney-Thorn, 16, in connection with the shooting that left one football player dead and four other teens injured on the 300 block of Fairway Terrace on the afternoon of September 27.
Burney-Thorn is being sought on charges of murder, conspiracy, and four counts of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw urged Burney-Thorn and the other unidentified suspects to surrender.
"We will not rest until the cowards responsible for this are taken into custody," Outlaw said to reporters. "To the people responsible for committing this crime: Do the right thing and turn yourselves in."
While announcing charges against Burney-Thorn, police also said they are vetting 7 other persons of interest linked to the deadly shooting. A motive for the violence remains unknown.
Police say they found four teens, including two 14-year-olds, suffering from gunshot wounds. One 14-year-old had a graze wound and was treated at the scene.

The second 14-year-old, identified as Nicolas Elizalde, was struck in the chest. He later died at Einstein Medical Center.
The other teens were taken to local hospitals and listed in stable condition.
Police released surveillance video of the shooting, which shows five suspects getting out of a vehicle before they opened fire more than 60 shots at the group of teens as they walked down the street following a scrimmage at Roxborough High School.

Authorities have released surveillance footage that shows five suspects running down as they fired more than 60 shots at the group of teens.
Shortly after the shooting, police located a light-colored Ford Explorer believed to have been used in the crime near the intersection of 61st Street and Passyunk Avenue. Inside the car, investigators found a 9mm handgun casing and other evidence they believe could contain DNA samples.
Captain Jason Smith told reporters on Tuesday police also recovered a Chevy Impala that they believe was used to "chauffeur shooters back-and-forth to the Ford Explorer."
The City of Philadelphia is offering a $45,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest or conviction in the case.
