This week's I-95 southbound closures already underway

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (WTXF) - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced lane closures are scheduled this week on southbound I-95 from the Northeast to Center City on two dates and two locations.

--Sunday, August 6, through Saturday, August 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., southbound I-95 will be reduced from four-lanes-to-three at the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) Interchange for utility installation;

--Sunday, August 6, through Saturday, August 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m, the ramp from Princeton Avenue to northbound I-95 at the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) Interchange will be reduced from two-lanes-to-one for overhead bridge painting; and

--Monday, August 7, through Wednesday, August 9, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, intermittent left and right lane closures will be in place on southbound I-95 between the Bridge Street and Betsy Ross Bridge interchanges for barrier adjustments, line painting and placement of an overhead sign.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

PennDOT says the work is part of the $211 million project to replace the northbound viaduct at the Girard Avenue Interchange, and the $160.2 million project to rebuild ramps and improve connections to and from I-95, Aramingo Avenue and the Betsy Ross Bridge.
