Thousands turn out to honor veterans in Philadelphia Veterans Parade

Thousands attended the 4th annual Philadelphia Veterans Parade and Festival Sunday.

More than 150 organizations participated in the afternoon celebration, offering services to veterans ranging from free haircuts, job recruitment, healthcare services, a PAWS therapy and adoption station, among other benefits.

People attending were asked to sign thank you notes to active duty military stationed overseas, praising them for their service.

The celebration jumped into gear with paratroopers making a jump at JFK Boulevard and North 16th Street. The parade followed from there.

The Veterans Festival rounded out the afternoon celebration, complete with live music, a beer garden and food trucks from half a dozen restaurants. Also included were family friendly activities including face painting and balloon artists.
