NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Police in North Philadelphia are investigating after three people were critically injured in a shooting.
Residents along a stretch of Lehigh Avenue in North Philadelphia are asking police to send in reinforcements after the triple shooting. Police are flooding the neighborhood with beat cops and more.
"This is getting ridiculous. I'm scared to walk down to the corner to get the bus," said Louis, a long-time resident.
He didn't feel any better about the situation at 16th and Lehigh after a drive-by shooting sent three people to the hospital Saturday afternoon.
"We lost somebody yesterday. They were shooting. It's bad. You got kids on the block. I've got 14 grandkids. This makes no sense," Louis stated.
Police were out in the neighborhood all day talking to residents, looking for information, counting shell casings. Three men were apparently sitting on the porch of an abandoned building on the corner. Reportedly, a car rolled up and someone started shooting.
"My nephew called me. He was at Broad and Lehigh. He said they just lit your block up. I thought it was my son was shot. It wasn't him, so thank God for that," said a neighbor.
Police say one of the victim tried to drive away after he was shot. His car window had been blown out by gunfire. Residents say it's all too much.
"Where all these guns coming from? Where the people getting these guns from? Where they getting the guns from? I don't have a gun," Louis exclaimed.
Police are investigating the drive-by. They do have a lot of extra patrols in the neighborhood. The victims, all shot in the legs, are in stable condition.
