Tractor-trailer fire has SB N.J. Turnpike down to one lane
MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (WTXF) - A stretch of the New Jersey Turnpike has only oner lane open after a tractor-trailer loaded with cars became engulfed in fire.
FOX 29's Bob Kelly reported the southbound lanes had all been blocked just after at Exit 4 (Route 73) in Mount Holly. The backup went all the way up to Exit 5. Now, one lane is getting through.
FOX 29's Steve Keeley, at the scene, reported the worst damage happened in the back of the tractor trailer, and a crane has to remove each car from it.
Bob suggests getting off at Exit 4 and taking Route 73 over to I-295, which is parallel and close by.
However, Route 73 is now backed up.
Separately, Bob is reporting a crash on the southbound New Jersey Turnpike at Exit 7 (Route 206).
