Hit-and-run chase ends with suspect's truck on University of Colorado Boulder football field

A string of hit-and-run crashes throughout Boulder Thursday night ended with the suspect’s truck on the University of Colorado Boulder’s football field.
Boulder officials said the crashes started happening around 6:45 p.m. local time that night, and they received a call that the same pick-up truck was involved.
Witnesses told police that the man in the truck was involved in at least two hit-and-run crashes, and that he also hit several trees and signs.
"During this incident, the witnesses tried to stop the driver from leaving and one person was almost struck by the pickup truck," Boulder officials said. "The driver continued driving, struck another car and more trees."
Boulder Police began pursuing the driver, but said he wouldn’t stop.

The suspect eventually rammed a gate on Stadium Drive and drove onto Folsom Field at the University of Colorado Boulder, authorities said.
KDVR Denver reported CU Boulder Police posted at 7:23 p.m. that there was a heavy police presence at Folsom Field and told people to avoid the area.

The suspect, identified as a 48-year-old man from Massachusetts, eventually got out of the truck and surrendered to police.
Karl Haglund is facing several charges, including:
- Criminal Attempt Vehicular Assault
- Reckless Endangerment
- Vehicular Eluding
- Leaving the scene of a crash after Damage (three counts)
- Failure to obey a traffic control device
- Driving without insurance
- Criminal Mischief $100k-$150k
- Obstruction of a Peace Officer
- Trespassing
