Two arrested in shooting outside Tropicana Casino

Police have arrested and charged two people in a shooting that happened at the Tropicana hotel and Casino early Sunday morning.

At around 2:30 A.M., officers responded to the hotel for reports of gunshots where they found a shooting victim on Pacific Avenue. The victim, identified as 25-year-old Xavier Smith, was taken to the hospital where he was placed in serious but stable condition.

According to police, there were multiple shell casings on the ground in the south tower valet area.

Police say that they were able to identify two male suspects through video surveillance from Tropicana security. Photos of the suspects were distributed to officers actively patrolling the area.

Police found one suspect, Eugene Storm, on Albion place. Storm had gotten rid of the jacket he was pictured wearing, where a loaded gun was found in the pocket.

The second suspect, George Walker, was then arrested after returning to the crime scene.

Storm, identified as a 23-year-old man from Pennsylvania, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, possession of hollow-point ammunition, conspiracy and tampering with evidence.

Walker, a 30-year-old New York man, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, conspiracy and tampering with evidence.

Both suspects were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility with bail set at $150,000.00.
