Victim whose body was found in garbage bag in Trenton identified
TRENTON, NJ (WTXF) - Police in New Jersey's capital city say the body of a woman was discovered in a plastic trash bag.
But it's still not clear what caused the death of 43-year-old Trenton resident Lillian Duran.
Authorities say a witness alerted them about the bag on Lamberton Street in Trenton around 4:45 p.m. Monday. Police responded and confirmed there was a body in the bag and alerted homicide detectives.
It's not clear how long the body had been at the site before it was discovered. An autopsy was performed Tuesday, but the cause and manner of the death remain undetermined.
Authorities have declined further comment on the death, citing the ongoing investigation.
The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office's Homicide Task Force is leading the investigation.
