Ewing police officer helps rescue woman from floodwaters
During Ida a Ewing police officer rescued a woman trapped in the flood
MERCER COUNTY, N.J. - An Ewing police officer is being credited with helping save a woman from raging floodwaters as remnants of Ida hit New Jersey.
Officers responded to multiple calls for motorists trapped in their vehicles on Sept 1.
During one of those responses, Officer Justin Quinlan found a woman that was forced to exit her vehicle and was trapped in fast-moving water. Bodycam footage shows Officer Quinlan finding his way through the swift-moving water to come to her aid as the woman clung to a guard rail.

Dramatic bodycam video shows an officer helping rescue a woman from fast-moving floodwaters in Ewing, New Jersey.
"I said, ‘Man this water is moving way too fast.’ But, I have to go. I can’t sit here and watch something bad happen to her. So, I’m going," Quinlan explained.
Officer Quinlan stayed with the woman over 20 minutes while their rescuers were responding and staging. Both the woman and officer were then successfully rescued by the Ewing Fire Department.

"I got two little kids at home, two little girls, and I knew I had to get back to them and back to my wife. And, I wanted to make sure she got to see her family again, so I wasn’t going to let her go," Quinlan remarked.
