SACRAMENTO, CA - A video featuring a father helping his son skate at a skate park in Sacramento, California has gone viral.
8-year-old Atticus is quickly becoming a favorite at his local skate park, according to KTXL.
His mother, Tresa Edmunds says that watching her son smile and seeing the joy he gets from skating with his father is a rewarding feeling.
"He loves action, he loves motion, you can't go fast enough for this kid," she told KTXL.
Atticus has cerebral palsy, a disease that affects his muscles and makes using the skate park's facilities by himself very difficult.
So his dad, Jared Edmunds, swooped in to help.
"He really is just like any other kid," Jared said to KTXL. "His body needs a little extra help to get things done, but like any father, when you see your kid happy, it's the greatest feeling in the world."
A video posted online sparked a light of inspiration for the father.
"I was online, and I saw a video of another dad pushing his son at a skate park, and I came home and I asked my wife if she had ever seen the video," said Jared. "I said we're going right now."
The parents said that they dropped what they were doing, got in the car, and made a go for it.
"I have a YouTube channel, and I feature videos of Atticus all the time. I want to show the world that he's this awesome little kid, and that even though he uses a wheelchair and has these disabilities, he's still this awesome little kid that has so much inside of him to share with the world," Tresa told KTXL.
"Everyone with disabilities, they have all the same wants and needs as the rest of us, and it just takes the tiniest bit of adaptation to make our world expand to include them," Tresa said.
