Video: Plane wing catches fire during terrifying landing

A passenger captured the terrifying moments a flight in Canada had a crash landing last month.

The Air Canada Express Flight, operated by Pal Airlines, had an "aircraft incident" upon arriving in Halifax from St. John’s, NL, the evening of Dec. 28, 2024, the Halifax airport said

Footage recorded by Aden O’Callaghan from inside the plane shows flames spurting from the wing.

O’Callaghan told Storyful that a "landing gear failure" led the plane to slide for over 15 seconds on the runway, prompting one of the wings to erupt "into a fireball."

O’Callaghan’s video shows the wing outside a plane window with flames streaming from it.

"We’ve got to get out," someone can be heard saying.

Halifax Stanfield Airport said that all passengers and crew on board were able to deplane.

O’Callaghan also spoke with CBC/Radio-Canada and said the experience left him sore, and "a bit shaken up."

An Air Canada spokesman told the outlet a suspected landing gear issue caused the problem.
