ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Walmart has announced that their price-matching 'Savings Catcher' program is coming to an end.
Walmart said that the program was designed to catch occasions when a competitor's price on a nationally advertised item was lower than what a customer paid for it at Walmart. So, with this program, Walmart app users could submit their receipts if they found a lower price for a product at a competitor. In return, the difference between the two prices was put on an eGift card for later use.
The last day to submit a Walmart Pay eReceipt to Savings Catcher is now May 14th, 2019. The balance of your Savings Catcher eGift card will remain on your card until you choose to spend it, though, Walmart said.
According to the Sun Sentinel, Walmart said that they are ending the program because the "program's intent has been met." They elaborated that "Walmart's prices win most often when you submit your receipt. That is why we have decided to discontinue the Savings Catcher receipt submission."
