FOX 29 Weather Authority 7-day forecast 10 p.m.

Kathy Orr updates the FOX 29 Weather Authority seven-day forecast, including a peek at the 4th of July forecast and when we can expect the heat wave to break.

The heat wave continues into Wednesday, after dangerous heat baked most of the Delaware Valley Tuesday.

FOX 29’s Kathy Orr says Wednesday should see temperatures top out in the upper 90s across most of the region. Great care should be exercised if you have to be outside. An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect until Wednesday evening, at 8 p.m., while an Air Quality Alert has been issued through midnight Thursday. In addition, a Heat Health Emergency has been issued by the city of Philadelphia through 11:45 p.m. Wednesday night.

Signs of heat exhaustion include cold, clammy skin, heavy sweating, nausea, muscle cramping, among other things. Move to a cool place and use cool, wet clothes over your body to recover.

Doctors warn of heat stroke, heat exhaustion in extreme temperatures

Doctor Mike joins Good Day Philadelphia to discuss the dangerous heat and what doctors recommend.

There is more information on heat-related illnesses at the CDC website.

The Jersey shore is the best place to be in the heat, as highs at the shore Wednesday and Thursday will top out in the mid-80s and, with the sea breezes, it will feel like it’s in the 70s.

The possibility of thunderstorms also exists, mainly north and west of Philadelphia, Wednesday afternoon and evening. Isolated, severe storms can’t be ruled for the city and suburbs to the south and east.

The better chance of more widespread thunderstorms exists for the greater part of the Delaware Valley Thursday afternoon and evening, as a cold front moves in. This will also bring short-lived relief from the heat wave, through the July 4th weekend.
