Weather Authority: Mild temps, chance of showers for the holiday weekend

Memorial Day weekend has long been referred to as the unofficial start of summer and this year the temperatures will be backing up that claim!

Friday will kick the weekend off with a warm start with a high of 86 degrees and plenty of sunshine. Saturday will bring more of the same, but it will also be bringing along some humidity and a chance of afternoon storms.

As for Sunday, highs will hover around 80 degrees and there will be another chance of storms before things settle into the 70s on Monday with more rain possible. These temps will all be a little cooler if you are planning on heading down the shore.

Taking a closer look at the rain this weekend, Saturday's showers are expected to be more scattered, with rain becoming more widespread on Sunday. Sunday's rain is expected to be on and off throughout the day.

Come Monday, we're looking at the possibility of early morning showers, but holding out hope that they'll clear out by the afternoon.
