PHILADELPHIA - A much-needed drenching of rain soaked parts of the Delaware Valley on Monday afternoon and evening, with rainfall in some areas prompting flash flood warnings.
A massive cluster of rain barreled north over Delaware and into Philadelphia, soaking part of southern New Jersey and areas of suburban Pennsylvania in its path.
The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for parts of New Castle County, Delaware after 2.5-3.5 inches of rain quickly fell on Monday evening.
Forecasters anticipate the rain will start to dwindle between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., with leftover showers straggling behind in spots during the overnight hours.
The rain will provide a natural cleanse for the region that's been dangerously dry throughout the recent weeks.
Tuesday will feature bright and sunny skies with temperatures reaching into the 80s during the daylight hours.
Another round of rain is anticipated on Wednesday night before a dry and sunny Thursday with highs again reaching the low 80s.
